Carbide Reversible Knives

Product Details

Product description

FHONK carbide indexable knives are produced from high‑grade cobalt‑bonded tungsten carbide (WC‑Co), providing outstanding hardness and strong bending resistance. This material ensures exceptional durability, enabling the knives to retain their original cutting performance even under severe conditions such as heavy loads and high temperatures. As a result, edge failure and wear are minimised, guaranteeing stable and reliable machining operations.

Application Explanation

FHONK carbide indexable knives (commonly referred to as indexable inserts) are widely compatible with woodworking machines including surface planers, thickness planers, four‑sided moulders, spindle moulders, copy shapers, edge banders, CNC machining centres, and spiral cutterheads. They are engineered to machine a diverse range of materials: solid woods such as oak, walnut, and mahogany; bamboo and branch wood; wood‑based panels like MDF, particleboard, plywood, and melamine‑faced boards; as well as composites including acrylic, high‑pressure laminates (HPL), and various plastics. These knives fully cover essential operations in furniture manufacturing, flooring production, panel processing, wood chip production, and architectural millwork – from rough planing and finish planing to profile milling, high‑speed cutting, and edge trimming.

Each knife is produced through precision grinding, with dimensional tolerances strictly maintained within ±0.01 mm. The cutting edges are mirror‑polished to achieve exceptional sharpness and a smooth, high‑quality surface finish on the workpiece. The four‑edge indexable design allows a dulled edge to be quickly rotated to a fresh one, dramatically reducing tool change frequency and machine downtime.

Performance Advantages

High machining efficiency – Thanks to superior material quality and precision manufacturing, the knives cut lightly and smoothly, significantly reducing production time.
Long service life – The cobalt‑bonded tungsten carbide material extends knife life by 5 to 10 times compared with traditional high‑speed steel (HSS) blades, substantially lowering replacement costs.
Complete range & customisation –Standard sizes include 14×14×2.0 mm, 15×15×2.5 mm, 30×12×1.5 mm, and many others.

Non‑standard dimensions can be custom‑manufactured on request, meeting the diverse needs of both large‑scale production plants and smaller workshops.
